The tool combines controlled mechanical tension with a sensitive decoding mechanism. Its working section incorporates two groups of four decoding elements, arranged to correspond with the internal lever configuration of compatible 4×4 locks.
During operation, the decoding elements interact mechanically with the lock levers. With controlled tension and repeated movement of the operating mechanism, the individual elements progressively adapt to the internal positions of the lock. When the required lever positions are reached, the bolt mechanism can be released and the lock operated.
The decoder head is manufactured from hardened stainless steel for durability and dimensional stability during repeated professional use. The handle is manufactured from aluminum, providing a lightweight and comfortable operating platform.
The mechanism is entirely mechanical and does not require batteries, electronic components or an external power supply.
Correct operation depends on sensitivity rather than excessive force. The operator applies controlled tension while working the mechanism and monitors the mechanical feedback transmitted through the tool.
In addition to operating a compatible lock, the tool is designed to retain information corresponding to the positions reached by its decoding elements.

Compatibility should always be verified before operation. Similar external appearance does not necessarily mean that two locks use identical internal geometry.
Important parameters include the number and arrangement of the internal levers, spacing between working elements, key dimensions and the internal construction of the specific lock version.
The tool should therefore not be considered a universal decoder for all double-bit locks.
